BRING (SOMEONE) UP to raise, to rear a child. (educar, criar)

«I was brought up by my parents, who brought you up?«

«My parents brought me up to be honest and hardworking.«

«I live in Spain now but I was brought up in England.«

BRING (SOMETHING) UP to raise a topic in conversation, to mention something. (sacar un tema)

«Don’t bring up politics or religion with people you don’t know.«

«Why did you bring that up in front of everyone?«

«I have an important topic that I would like to bring up at the meeting.«
